The Bauchi State Police Command said it has arrested a suspected thief and recovered stolen roofing materials valued at N2.26 million.
According to the command, the arrest followed a case bordering on alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass and theft in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying the recovery followed a swift response by detectives attached to the Azare Divisional Police Headquarters.
According to the statement, the Command received a complaint on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m. from a 35-year-old resident of Gandunwambai, Azare, who reported that unknown persons had broken into his shop along Kano Road, Azare, and carted away 460 metres of stonecut roofing sheets.
