The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced three men to life imprisonment for their roles in the high-profile kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Justice Salim Ibrahim convicted and sentenced Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (also known as Yunusa Bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (also known as Abu Itisar) following their guilty pleas.
The trio, who were prosecuted by the Department of State Services (DSS), admitted to being associates of bandits linked to the abduction and to membership in a proscribed terrorist group. They were also found guilty of concealing information about the bandits’ activities.
Although they faced a 10-count charge, the defendants pleaded guilty to key counts, including those related to terrorism and information concealment, leading to the life sentences.
The case stems from the May 2026 attack in communities such as Yawota and Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire
