CAC to Begin Enforcement of Company Letter Rules August 1

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced it will start enforcing strict statutory requirements on the contents of company business letters and related documents from August 1, 2026.Defaulting companies will face sanctions, the commission warned.  

  

 In a public notice signed by its management and shared on its X handle on Wednesday, the CAC reminded businesses of their obligations under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.

The rules, outlined in Sections 304(1), 304(2), and 304(1)(c) of the Act, require that all company business letters, invoices, quotations, official correspondence, and other business documents must clearly display in legible characters:

The company’s registered name and registration number 

The present forename or initials and surname of every director 

Any former forename and surname of every director

The nationality of every non-Nigerian director

The CAC stated: “Commencing the 1st day of August 2026, the Commission shall enforce the full application of the requirements of sections 304(1) & (2) and (1)(c)
