‘Can I Get A Pamphlet On How To Be Nigerian?’ — Godfrey

Nigerian-American comedian and actor Godfrey has jokingly called for a “Nigerian survival guide” after reflecting on the many cultural rules he has had to learn throughout his life.

Speaking on the One54 Africa Podcast, Godfrey humorously recounted the unwritten codes of Nigerian culture that were constantly reinforced while growing up.

“Can I get a pamphlet on how to be Nigerian?” he quipped, drawing laughter from the hosts.

The comedian recalled being repeatedly corrected for using his left hand to receive items, a gesture considered disrespectful in many Nigerian cultures, particularly when interacting with elders.

He also spoke about being cautioned by his parents against crossing his legs in certain situations, another cultural expectation rooted in showing respect and proper etiquette.
