MultiChoice has entered a new phase of its digital transformation after becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Canal+, a move expected to strengthen the African pay television company’s access to global technology, premium content and distribution capabilities.
The integration brings one of Africa’s largest digital television platforms into a global media group focused on platform integration, streaming innovation and cross-market content distribution.
MultiChoice operates digital entertainment services across sub-Saharan Africa through DStv and GOtv, delivering live television, sports, video-on-demand and news content to millions of subscribers. The new ownership structure is expected to provide the company with greater resources to enhance its digital entertainment offerings and accelerate technology-driven innovation across its platforms.
Announcing the milestone on Thursday, David Mignot, Chief Executive Officer of Canal+ Africa and MultiChoice, said the integration positions the South African media and technology company within a broader international media ecosystem.
