Captain Hosa: A life whose light time cannot diminish

Time has an extraordinary way of testing the worth of men. While it gradually erases the footprints of many, it only deepens the imprint of a few whose lives transcended personal ambition and became instruments of public good.

Captain Idahosa Wells Okunbo, (JP) belonged unmistakably to that rare company. Five years after his transition on August 8, 2021, his memory has neither faded nor diminished. Instead, it has gathered greater meaning, reminding Nigeria that genuine greatness is measured less by the fortune a man acquires than by the lives he enriches and the legacy he leaves behind.

Some men accumulate wealth, others create value. Captain Hosa did both, but history will remember him more for the humanity behind his success than for the vastness of his enterprise. He understood, perhaps more profoundly than many of his contemporaries, that prosperity finds its noblest expression when it becomes a blessing to others.
