Nigeria captain Sulaimon Runsewe says the Yellow Greens have plenty of work to do after their difficult outing at the Namibia Tri-Series, but believes the experience will benefit the team as they continue rebuilding under new head coach Stephen Mangongo, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Yellow Greens endured a disappointing campaign in June, losing all four of their matches, suffering two defeats each against hosts Namibia and Hong Kong.
Despite the results, Runsewe believes the tour provided valuable lessons for a relatively new squad still adapting to life under Mangongo, who was appointed head coach in May.
“It was great exposure for us. It didn’t go as we planned, but we take a lot of lessons from there,” Runsewe said.
“That was our first tour of the year, and it’s quite a new team. We are getting to know one another better on the pitch.
