The Cross River State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is facing a fresh internal crisis as key members of the State Executive Council (SEC) passed a vote of no confidence on the party’s State Chairman, Mr. Goddie Archibong Akpama (also referred to as Goddie Akpama).
In a communiqué issued after a meeting on Friday, senior executives accused Akpama of several infractions, including anti-party activities, financial irregularities, abuse of office, and autocratic leadership style.
A major point of contention is the allegation that Akpama continued to receive salaries from the Cross River State Government until May 2026, despite claiming to have resigned his appointment to lead the opposition party — an issue the executives described as a serious conflict of interest.
Other allegations include:Unilaterally altering the State Executive Council list after the state congress without proper consultation.
Imposing party structures and officials at ward and local government levels.
Failure to harmonise and publish authentic
