Delta Suspends Works Commissioner Indefinitely for ‘Assaulting Gov’s Aide’

The Delta State government has suspended Reuben Izeze, commissioner for works (highway and urban roads), indefinitely over allegations linking him to the assault of Simon Mudi, senior special assistant on protocol to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The suspension takes immediate effect.The decision was announced in a statement signed by Kingsley Emu, secretary to the state government, on Monday. The government said the suspension was necessary to allow security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation.

“The suspension is to enable the security agencies to carry out an unbiased investigation of allegations associating him with the assault on the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Mr Simon Mudi, also known as Temple, at the Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Effurun, recently,” the statement read.

The development followed the circulation of a video showing Mudi being chased and repeatedly struck with bottles and chairs during a political meeting at the PTI Conference Centre in Effurun on Sunday. The footage
