A Professor of Radiography and Radiological Sciences at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Mark Okeji, has advised healthcare professionals against ignoring Artificial Intelligence.
Okeji warned that healthcare professionals who fail to update themselves by acquiring skills to use the technology will be left behind before they realise it.
He gave the advice while delivering an induction lecture at the joint induction and oath-taking ceremony for graduates of Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science, and Radiography and Radiation Science at PAMO University of Medical Sciences in Iriebe, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Okeji further said AI will revolutionise healthcare delivery by accelerating diagnosis, improving patient monitoring, and supporting clinical decisions, stressing that the technology was designed to enhance, rather than simply replace, human expertise.
He stated, “AI has not come to replace you. It has come to help you. It makes the job simpler and makes our patients feel better.
