The Department of State Services (DSS) has freed Nura Idris, a farmer from Kaduna State, after investigations confirmed he had no ties to Boko Haram.
Idris, who hails from Soba Local Government Area, was arrested in Suleja, Niger State, in 2024 over allegations of terrorist links before being handed over to the DSS.
A review panel later found no evidence against him, leading to his release.DSS Director-General, Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, not only ordered Idris’ freedom but also approved a payment of N3 million to help him rebuild his life and farming business.
Speaking after regaining his liberty, Idris commended the DSS leadership for the humane treatment he received during detention and said the compensation would enable him to restart his livelihood.Security sources revealed that the DSS is currently reviewing old cases to ensure innocent individuals are not kept in custody unnecessarily.
