The Imoga community in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State has appealed to Governor Monday Okpebholo to intervene following the killing of one of its residents, Monday Obanigba, allegedly by suspected herders.
The community, in a protest letter dated July 20, 2026, and signed by Jeffery Obasanmi, urged the governor and security agencies to take urgent steps to address the worsening insecurity in the area.
The letter, made available to journalists in Benin City on Tuesday, described the killing as part of a disturbing pattern of violent attacks that has continued to threaten the peace and security of the community.
The residents lamented that the persistent insecurity had prevented many farmers from accessing their farmlands, posing a serious threat to livelihoods and food security.
