The Edo State Government said it is seeking to make the state Nigeria’s leading cultural tourism destination through the Edo Carnival 2026.
The Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Planning Committee for the carnival, Emmanuel Okoebor, disclosed this on Thursday at a press conference in Lagos to unveil plans for the second edition of the event.
Okoebor said the carnival would showcase Edo’s cultural heritage while promoting Benin City as a destination for major cultural and entertainment events.
Okoebor said, “Our vision is to build a carnival that belongs to the people, reflects the soul of Edo, welcomes the world and leaves a lasting economic, cultural and social impact.
“Beyond the celebration itself, Edo Carnival 2026 will serve as a strategic platform for showcasing Edo’s rich cultural heritage and preserving its traditions for future generations and promoting Edo State as a premier tourism destination in Nigeria and Africa.”
