Nigeria recorded a national electricity metering rate of 59.69% in March and April 2026, according to the latest data from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Out of 12,457,068 active electricity customers, 7,324,074 were metered while 5,132,994 remained unmetered. Distribution companies installed 115,905 meters in March and a further 111,654 in April.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company led with an 88.78% metering rate, followed by Ikeja Electric at 87.93% and Abuja Electricity Distribution Company at 80.08%.
In Abuja and surrounding areas, single-phase meters currently cost between ₦100,835 and ₦148,162, while three-phase meters range from ₦168,452 to ₦268,750. Despite the ongoing metering drive, power supply continues to be unreliable in many parts of the Federal Capital Territory and across the country.
