More than 30 aspiring fashion entrepreneurs have graduated from the Ananse Centre for Design’s Fashion Incubator Scholarship Programme, with the institute saying the initiative is designed to equip young creatives with the skills and business support needed to build globally competitive fashion brands.
The graduation ceremony, held alongside a fashion showcase at the institute’s campus in Ikate, Lekki, Lagos, drew models, students and fashion enthusiasts who witnessed the runway presentations by the graduating cohort.
The graduates completed months of intensive training in fashion design, leatherwork, garment production, quality assurance, sustainability, product development, entrepreneurship, branding, e-commerce and market access.
Speaking at the event, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ananse Africa, Sam Mensah, said the programme was created to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity in Africa’s fashion industry.
