…Upgrades Gombe snake bite treatment centre
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the sum of N215 billion for 10 blood banks, whose power supply will be run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
Mohammed Pate, Minister of Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Welfare, disclosed this on Monday at the second meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Bola Tinubu.
Pate said the snake bite treatment centre in Kaltungo Gombe State has been approved for an upgrade.
The minister stressed that “snake bite remains a significant yet neglected public health challenge, particularly in rural communities.
According to him, “the incidents of snake bites remain a major challenge in savannah, as well as across the sub region, and is especially hard on vulnerable populations, farmers, herders, hunters, women, and children, whose livelihoods and daily activities expose them to encounters such snakes.
