Fennecs fight back to reach last-four

Algeria fought back from a goal down to beat Ivory Coast 2-1 in a thrilling 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final in Casablanca on Saturday and book their place in the semi-finals.

Ivory Coast made the brighter start and took the lead in the 29th minute when Inès Konan struck to put the Elephants in front.

Their advantage was reduced, however, when N. Ouédraogo was sent off in the 42nd minute, leaving Ivory Coast with 10 players for the remainder of the contest.

Algeria took advantage of their numerical superiority after the break, with substitute I. Khiri, introduced at half-time, equalising in the 59th minute.

Ivory Coast had an immediate opportunity to regain the lead, but R. Elloh failed to convert from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute.
