The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) has announced a final extension for the submission of textbooks and instructional materials under the 2026 Phase I assessment, reassessment, and ranking exercise.
Publishers, authors, and other stakeholders now have until August 7, 2026 to complete their submissions.
The extension, approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, follows the earlier deadline of July 3 and is aimed at encouraging wider participation in the national textbook evaluation process.
In a statement, NERDC’s Executive Secretary, Prof. Salisu Shehu, explained that the move was intended to give more stakeholders in the book industry an opportunity to take part in the exercise.
“This final extension is being granted to ensure broader participation and provide publishers, authors, and other eligible stakeholders with an additional opportunity to complete and submit their materials,” the statement read.
