In a push to modernise Nigeria’s education sector, the federal government has tasked the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) with leading the digital shift in teaching and promoting professionalism among educators to enhance students’ learning outcomes.
Suwaiba Ahmad, the minister of state for education, gave this assurance at the 2026 three-day retreat of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) in Abuja, where she said quality teachers and strong institutions remain the bedrock of national development.
Ahmad emphasised that the Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) are driving reforms targeted at improving foundational learning, strengthening teacher quality, enhancing governance and accelerating digital transformation across the education sector.
The minister charged TRCN to sustain its push for professional standards, ethical practice and continuous teacher development, while deploying technology to improve communication, data management and service delivery
