FG Unveils Consumer Credit Scheme For Laptops, Others

The Federal Government has launched a new consumer credit initiative aimed at making laptops, internet-enabled devices, and other digital tools more affordable for Nigerians through structured financing.

Unveiled on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices Programme (C.L.I.C.K.D.) is a collaboration between the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) and the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

The programme forms part of broader efforts to deepen digital inclusion, support skills development, boost local manufacturing, and enhance productivity in the digital economy. 

It will initially focus on locally assembled laptops, with plans to expand to other digital devices.

Speaking at the unveiling in Abuja, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, emphasised the importance of a robust credit system for national development. 

He commended President Bola Tinubu and CREDICORP for the initiative, describing it as a key step toward achieving a $1 trillion economy.
