Actor, Ebisan Arayi, has weighed in on the ongoing debate over actors’ involvement in film promotion, stating that producers and directors should not compel actors to take on publicity responsibilities outside their contractual agreements.
Speaking in an interview with Sunday Scoop, Arayi argued that acting and movie promotion are separate obligations, noting that appearing in a film does not automatically make an actor responsible for marketing it.
“I am of the opinion that if we want to say business should be business, you called me for a film; you didn’t call me to come and promote the film. My job obligation is for me to shoot and deliver the character, and that should be it,” he said.
The actor added that while some performers may voluntarily support the promotion of a project they enjoyed working on, such activities should not be assumed as part of their job.
