A fire outbreak on Thursday morning gutted the electronics section of Justrite Superstore along Akowonjo Road in the Egbeda-Akowonjo area of Lagos.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident, stating that it received a distress call at 8:15 a.m. and arrived at the scene within minutes.
Firefighters from the Abesan and Agege stations quickly deployed equipment to contain the blaze on the second floor of the building, preventing it from spreading to other sections.
Controller General of the Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye, reported that no casualties were recorded. Recovery and mop-up operations were ongoing after the fire was extinguished.
Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have originated from an alternative power source, specifically a solar inverter system.
“The cause of the fire is suggestive of an alternative power source solar inverter system while no casualty has been recorded,” the agency’s statement read.
