
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kebbi Sector Command, says it has arrested 39 vehicles for various traffic offences during an ongoing special enforcement operation across the state.
The Kebbi Sector Commander, Mrs. Rukayya Zakaria, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
She said the operation, which began on July 20, is aimed at tackling dangerous traffic violations such as overloading, mixed loading, route violations and other offences that put the lives of road users at risk.
Zakaria said the command had so far arrested 39 vehicles for different traffic offences, adding that its personnel remained fully deployed for the operation, which would continue until Wednesday, July 22.
“We are conducting the Daidaita Lodi and Lodi Limit operation simultaneously across all seven FRSC operational units in Kebbi State,” she said
According to her, the exercise is designed to improve compliance with road safety regulations and reduce road crashes across the state.
She added that the operation is being conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The sector commander said officers are focusing on offences including tyre violations, road hazard violations, overloading and mixed loading, where passengers and goods are transported together in the same vehicle.
Zakaria described the intervention patrol as a routine nationwide enforcement exercise carried out periodically based on directives from the FRSC Headquarters.
