The first champions of the 14th World Choir Games have been crowned in Helsingborg, Sweden, with choirs from nine categories emerging winners of the Champions Competition.
The host organisation, Interkultur, announced the results on Monday following the second Awards Ceremony of the Games.
Interkultur described the Champions Competition as “the highest level of competition in the World Choir Games”.
It brings together choirs with proven experience and achievements in national and international choral competitions.
The performances were evaluated by a jury of seven international music experts, with Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals awarded according to the World Choir Games Evaluation System.
For the highest-scoring Gold Medal choir in each category, Interkultur said there is “an even greater distinction: the title ‘Champion of the World Choir Games.’”
Interkultur congratulated the new champions, medal winners and all choirs that participated in the first part of the competition.
