President Bola Tinubu on Thursday declared that Nigeria has moved beyond the difficult phase of his administration’s economic reforms, saying the country is entering an “age of prosperity” focused on jobs, production and improved living standards.
Tinubu made the declaration in his Independence Day address to Nigerians as the country marked its 66th anniversary, saying the government’s “overriding purpose” for the past three years had been to correct the nation’s economic course.
“The emergency treatment is over. The foundation has been repaired,” the President’s Thursday address said.
“The central economic task before us has changed. For three years, our overriding purpose was to correct our nation’s course. Now, our purpose is simple: shared and widespread prosperity.”
