Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has signed three executive orders aimed at addressing political thuggery, illegal mining and drug abuse across the state.
The governor signed the orders on Sunday as part of efforts to strengthen security, protect communities and preserve public order ahead of future political activities in the state.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Zainab Jalingo.
Speaking on the new measures, Kefas said the government could no longer ignore the growing challenges posed by drug abuse, which he described as a major threat to young people and the wider society.
According to him, substance abuse has continued to fuel crime, violence and social problems in many communities.
“Drug abuse remains one of the greatest threats to the future of our young people. It fuels insecurity, destroys families, undermines productivity, and exposes communities to various forms of crime,”
