The Bayelsa State Police Command has received a welfare boost following an intervention by the Dougha Tamarkuro Humanitarian Initiatives, which supported 50 serving police officers and 20 children of fallen officers.
The intervention, held on Monday at the Police Officers’ Mess, Yenagoa, was organised under the DTHI National Police Welfare and Resilience Programme.
The programme, tagged “The Police Are Our Friends,” focused on promoting the psychological well-being and resilience of police personnel while addressing the educational needs of children whose parents died in active service.
The 50 police beneficiaries, drawn from junior, mid-level and senior ranks, participated in a mental health and resilience workshop and received welfare food support.
Twenty children of deceased police officers also benefited from the organisation’s Fallen Heroes Education Support Scheme.
Speaking during the programme, the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, described the intervention as a significant gesture of support to police personnel
