Gunmen on Sunday evening shot and k!lled Mr. Letam Kine, a former Chief Security Officer of Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State.
The attack occurred along Polytechnic Road in Bori, with residents suspecting cultists were behind the k!lling. Witnesses said the assailants opened fire on Kine before escaping into nearby bushes.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that the gunsh^ts triggered panic, forcing residents and passers-by to flee. “Social and business activities were immediately halted, with shop owners hurriedly closing their businesses,” the source said, adding that fear still lingers among students of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic and other residents.
Police later arrived at the scene, but the attackers had already fled. The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that Kine’s body had been deposited in a morgue and investigations were underway.
Reacting to the k!lling, Khana Local Government Chairman, Dr. Thomas Bariere, condemned the act as “heartbreaking and senseless.”
