Hisbah bans movie downloads on phones in Kano

 The Kano Hisbah board has banned the mobile movie download business, popularly known as “downloading”, across the state

 

According to BBC Pidgin, Mujahid Aminuddeen, the board’s deputy commander general, said the ban was introduced to protect young people from moral decline and curb the spread of harmful content.

 

He said the board received complaints that some operators were distributing videos that negatively influenced children and young people.

 

He added that investigations revealed that some operators were using the business to distribute pornographic videos and other materials considered offensive to Islamic teachings, cultural values, and public morality.

 

 

“Our findings show that this business contributes to the spread of films and videos that contain content contrary to religion, our culture and good morals,” he said.

 

“That is why we have decided to stop the business to protect young people from moral decay and reduce the circulation
