How Kaigame Wanted to Use me to Pay Boko Haram Ransom – Ndume

Senator Ali Ndume (Borno South) has claimed that Samaila Kaigame, leader of the purported Borno South Youth Alliance, attempted to involve him in paying ransom to secure the release of kidnap victims.    
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ on Tuesday, Ndume said Kaigame repeatedly contacted him, claiming Boko Haram was demanding N5 billion for the release of abducted persons.    
“He wanted to use me for the payment of ransom. I began suspecting him when he demanded that I contribute towards the payment of ransom,” the senator stated.   
Ndume explained that he tried to link Kaigame with relevant security agencies and authorities but refused to get involved in any ransom payment. 

He maintained that he does not support paying ransoms or negotiating with Boko Haram.    
The lawmaker drew parallels with past experiences, noting how similar contacts had been used politically against him in 2011.
