She was acting as Registrar but an announcement rang out last weekend that Idanyingi Daminabo has been appointed substantive registrar.
A statement signed by Victor Banigo, acting director, corporate affairs, said the 15th Governing Council of the Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, approved the appointment.
According to the statement: “Until her appointment as Registrar, Dr Daminabo was the Acting Registrar, a position she had held since 15th December, 2025.
“Daminabo holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, Master of Science in Sociology and a Doctorate Degree in Human Resource Management. She joined the services of the University in 1994 as Administrative Officer I through a transfer of service from the Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori, where she was employed as Administrative Officer II in 1988. She rose through the ranks to the position of a Director in 2017.
