The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has reacted to the British government’s condemnation of Israel for building permanent structures in Jerusalem.
British Foreign Secretary, Ed Miliband, had condemned Israel’s decision to advance the E1 settlement project east of Jerusalem. Miliband described the Israeli government’s action as an “unacceptable and destructive act” that risks severing the West Bank from East Jerusalem and ending hopes for a two-state solution.
However, reacting in a statement released by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on Friday, IPOB accused the British government of selective outrage and hypocrisy, noting that it failed to condemn the detention of its citizen, Nnamdi Kanu, by the Nigerian authorities.
According to IPOB, instead of condemning Kanu’s detention, Britain assisted the Nigerian government in flouting a United Nations resolution calling for his release.
