The Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Kano State, Hussaini Mairiga, has appealed to the party’s lone senator, Rufai Hanga, to remain in the party amid speculations that he and former Senator Kabiru Gaya are planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress.
Mairiga made the appeal in an interview with PUNCH on Tuesday, insisting that both politicians remain prominent members of the NDC and should not be persuaded to leave the party.
According to him, neither Hanga nor Gaya has formally communicated any intention to resign from the NDC.
“As of today, none of them has submitted a resignation letter to me as the state chairman. They are still members of our party,” he said.
