Crude oil emerged as the dominant commodity handled through Lagos ports in August, with total reported imports reaching 2,392,354 metric tonnes during the month.
Available figures showed that 1,867,712 metric tonnes of crude oil arrived at the Lekki Deep Sea Port in the first week of August, while a further 524,742 metric tonnes was scheduled for discharge at the Apapa Quays before the end of the month.
The figures underline the continued prominence of crude oil among commodities passing through Lagos’ major ports during the period.
Bulk wheat ranked next on the import chart, with a combined volume of 321,849 metric tonnes. Of this figure, 176,243 metric tonnes was recorded in the first week of August, while another 145,606 metric tonnes was expected later in the month.
