The Lagos State Government has commenced training for about 400 officers in the Unified Local Government Service who are approaching retirement, in a bid to prepare them for a smooth transition from active service to pension.
The pre-retirement sensitisation workshop, held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate retirement successfully.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Local Government Establishments and Training, Toyin Ogunlana, said retirement should not be seen as the end of a career but the beginning of another phase of life that requires careful planning and informed decision-making.
She said the workshop reflected the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of public servants through programmes that promote financial security, dignity and a better quality of life before and after retirement.
