A magnitude-6.0 earthquake shook the Gulf of California on Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The tremor, recorded at about 12:45 p.m. local time, had its epicenter roughly 46 miles (74 kilometers) south-southwest of El Progreso, Mexico.
It struck at a shallow depth of approximately 6 miles (10 kilometers).Residents reported feeling the quake in several cities, including Los Mochis, Culiacán, and Zapopan, as well as other parts of Mexico.
Authorities confirmed there were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage, but monitoring and assessments are ongoing.
