The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has alleged that the ongoing investigation and prosecution of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, was politically motivated and aimed at weakening the opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement jointly signed by the party’s state Chairman, Sufiyanu Bala, and Chairman of the ADC Elders Forum in Kebbi State, Shehu Aliyu Sambawa, the party maintained that while it supports lawful investigation and prosecution of anyone found wanting, it would not condone what it described as the use of state institutions to intimidate opposition figures.
The party alleged that the Federal Government was deploying anti-graft agencies and other state institutions to suppress opposition politicians in a bid to make opposition politics unattractive or unbearable before the 2027 election.
