Mbaise Iriji is cultural festival, not politics – Committee

The Chairman of Iriji Mbaise central working committee, Steve Onu on Monday said the cultural festival is not for political purposes.

Speaking at Ezuruezu Mbaise Civic Center in Aboh Mbaise, Onu noted that the festival coming up in August is billed to display the rich cultural heritage of Mbaise nation comprising Ahiazu, Ezinihitte and Aboh Mbaise local government areas of Imo State.

“The essence of the festival is to gather various stakeholders, lovers of the area and cultural groups across the state and beyond for the establishment of the importance of holding on to cultural values.

“The Iriji festival should not be politicised or understood through the prism of politics.  It’s for the elevation of culture and traditions.  It’s a bond that keep the Mbaise nation together for the development of the area. The festival affords us the opportunity to discuss around one table the progress, peace and unity of
