The Nigerian Army has confirmed that 17 family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) have voluntarily surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Borno State.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Capt. Muhammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer for OPHK, 16 individuals surrendered in Konduga Local Government Area, while one other surrendered in Bama Local Government Area.
“Sustained offensive operations by troops of Operation Hadin Kai have continued to exert significant pressure on terrorist elements across the North-East, resulting in the voluntary surrender of 17 family members of JAS,” the statement read.
On August 4, 2026, at about 9:15 a.m., 16 family members—comprising 10 women and six children—surrendered to troops of the 222 Battalion during a patrol along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga.
A total of ₦92,000 was recovered from the group during preliminary debriefing.
