Super Eagles winger Femi Azeez may be forced to look beyond Aston Villa for his Premier League breakthrough this summer, with Millwall’s £30m valuation and competition from a more established alternative combining to dim the prospect of a move to Villa Park.
Azeez, 25, produced the finest season of his career in the EFL Championship, contributing 18 goals and assists to earn a place in the divisional Team of The Season.
According to Football Insider, the performances placed him firmly on Villa’s radar as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his wide options ahead of another Champions League campaign, but the path to Birmingham has complications on both sides of the deal.
The first is Millwall’s asking price. The South London club have already rejected a £20m offer from Ipswich Town and are holding firm at £30m for a player who has yet to play a minute of Premier League football.
