The General Overseer of El-Buba Outreach Ministries, Prophet Isa El-Buba, has taken a swipe at an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Yahya Jingir, for referring to Christians as as infidels.
Jingir, in a video circulating on social media, said whoever does not want to accept a Muslim-Muslim ticket should leave Nigeria because the country belongs to Muslims, referring to Christians as ‘infidels’.
Responding, El-Buba accused the cleric of promoting religious division at a time when northern Nigeria is grappling with insecurity, poverty, banditry, drug abuse, criminality and the displacement of communities.
According to El-Buba, religious and political leaders should focus on bringing Nigerians together and finding solutions to the country’s challenges instead of making statements capable of deepening religious tensions.
He stated that he was addressing Nigerians with a ‘very serious, heavy heart’, stressing that leaders should, particularly as they grow older, begin to think about how Nigerians can live together peacefully.
