The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has directed its members in Ekiti State to begin mobilising for peaceful protests following the remand of James Adio, the immediate past Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).
In a statement issued on Monday, NANS National President Akinteye Babatunde described the remand as a miscarriage of justice. He alleged that Adio, who was the complainant in the matter he personally brought before a Magistrate Court in Ekiti State, ended up being imprisoned.
Babatunde directed the NANS Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Chairman for the Ekiti Axis and the NANS National Head of Administration to commence mobilisation for lawful protests at the Ekiti State High Court, the Magistrate Court, and the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions until Adio is released and justice is served.
