NCGC targets N100bn financing for women-owned businesses with new credit  scheme

The initiative, unveiled during a hybrid stakeholder engagement held in Abuja, sought to support more than 20,000 women-owned businesses while creating or sustaining over 150,000 direct and indirect jobs across Nigeria.

The programme is designed to tackle one of the biggest challenges confronting female entrepreneurs in the country, limited access to formal credit, by providing credit guarantees to financial institutions, reducing lending risks and encouraging banks to extend more affordable loans to women-led businesses.

Speaking at the launch, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of Women Affairs, described GuaranteeHer as a transformative intervention capable of dismantling long-standing barriers that have prevented many women entrepreneurs from accessing finance.

She said empowering women economically remains critical to Nigeria’s overall development and stressed that increasing access to affordable credit would enable women to expand their businesses, create jobs and contribute more significantly to national economic growth.
