President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the National Health Technology and Data Analytics Office (NHTDAO), appointing Dr Obi Adigwe as the pioneer National Coordinator of the new agency to unify and coordinate Nigeria’s fragmented digital health ecosystem.
The newly-created office, which will be domiciled in the Office of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, is expected to serve as Nigeria’s central platform for harmonising health data systems, coordinating digital health initiatives and accelerating the country’s transition to technology-enabled healthcare.
Adigwe’s appointment places the former Director-General of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) at the centre of Nigeria’s efforts to build an integrated, interoperable and data-driven healthcare system.
