The Federal Government has inaugurated Nigeria’s first Manufacturing Technology University Innovation Pod (Manu-Tech UniPod) at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), marking a major step in its strategy to transform universities into hubs for manufacturing innovation, technology commercialisation and entrepreneurship.
The facility is designed to provide students, researchers and entrepreneurs with access to advanced manufacturing technologies, prototyping laboratories, business incubation services and industry mentorship to help convert research into commercially viable products.
The Manu-Tech UniPod forms part of Nigeria’s emerging National UniPod Network, a nationwide innovation infrastructure that seeks to bridge the gap between academia, industry and investment while positioning universities as catalysts for economic growth, industrialisation and global competitiveness.
