…Calls for speed, investment, technology transfer to turn defence ties into jobs, industrial capacity
The Defence Industries Association of Nigeria (DIAN) has called for accelerated investment, technology transfer and stronger collaboration between Nigeria and Türkiye to translate growing defence cooperation into local manufacturing capacity, jobs and economic growth.
The association made the call following the conclusion of the 7th Nigeria–Türkiye Defence Industries Cooperation Meeting and Business Forum in Abuja, describing the engagement as a milestone in Nigeria’s drive to build a more self-reliant and globally competitive defence industry.
DIAN said the Federal Government’s emphasis on developing indigenous defence capabilities must now move from policy discussions to concrete industrial projects.
“The next phase must therefore focus on converting dialogue into partnerships, partnerships into projects, and projects into sustainable industrial capability,” the association said in a statement on Thursday.
