1. Osun State Police Command on Saturday arrested the state Commissioner for Environment, Mayowa Anjorin, for allegedly masterminding a gun attack on members of the All Progressives Congress during the latest eruption of violence in the state ahead of Saturday’s off cycle governorship election. Also in police net on account of the incident is an operative of the Osun State Security Network Agency, Amotekun.

2. The Police Command in Benue State has arrested five Pakistani nationals with 35 mobile phones during separate intelligence-led operations in Otukpo and Ugbokolo. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Aondongu Orchia, made the disclosure in a statement in Makurdi on Saturday.

3. Operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested three more persons suspected to be members of the kidnapping ring that abducted the Dean of Agriculture, Nasarawa State University, Prof. Samuel Avengbe Okunsebor. The university don was rescued by DSS operatives two days after some gunmen kidnapped him on July 15, 2026, at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa-Eggon local government areas.

4. Tears and anguish enveloped Efeyi community in Ugboju District of Otukpo Local Government Area, LGA, Benue State, on Saturday, as residents conducted a mass burial for 16 persons allegedly killed by suspected armed herdsmen. The victims were reportedly killed when the attackers invaded the community in the early hours of July 28, throwing residents into panic and forcing many to flee for safety.
