Nigeria’s ORB launches platform that helps people find events, nightlife, social experiences

Nigerian startup ORB is an all-in-one discovery platform that helps people find events, nightlife, and social experiences in one place. 

People using ORB explore what is happening around them via an interactive heatmap, purchase tickets directly in-app, and engage socially through “Orb Snaps” – real-time posts from users, venues, and even celebrities that others can react to, comment on, or respond to by sending virtual drinks via Orb Points. 

The platform also supports community groups, personalised recommendations, VIP ticketing, table reservations, and live-streaming of events for remote audiences. 

“The goal is simple – people shouldn’t have to scroll through 10 different Facebook groups or Instagram pages to find out what’s on tonight,” co-founder Emmanuel Adepoju, who started ORB alongside Abisoye Bello, told Disrupt Africa.

The fragmentation problem in nightlife event discovery is well-known, according to Adepoju. 

“They piece together information from WhatsApp groups, Instagram stories, Facebook pages, and word of mouth just to figure out what’s on this weekend. But the gap ORB specifically targeting goes deeper than that,” he said.

“No platform — globally or in markets like Nigeria — has meaningfully focused on clubs and nightlife as a dedicated niche. Eventbrite is built around structured ticketing for conferences, concerts, and ticketed events. Facebook Events are broad and passive. Local alternatives in Nigeria are either general listings or promoter-driven Instagram pages with no real infrastructure behind them. None of them are built around the nightlife experience itself — spontaneity, real-time energy, the social layer of a night out.”
