NUT Cries Out Over Abduction of Oyo Headmaster, Demands Rescue


The Oyo State Wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers has called for the immediate rescue of a primary school headmaster abducted by gunmen in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of the state.

The union made the appeal in a statement obtained by Politics Nigeria on Monday by its Chairman, Fatai Hassan, and Secretary, Salami Olukayode.

The victim, identified as M.K. Owoade, is the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Ogodu, Igbojaye. He was reportedly abducted on Saturday at about 5 p.m. while working on his farm.

According to the union, the incident was brought to the attention of the state leadership through an emergency report from its Itesiwaju Local Government branch.

Describing the abduction as disturbing, the union said the incident underscored the worsening security challenges facing teachers and other education workers across the country.
