Hammer thrower Oyesade Olatoye has expressed disappointment after missing out on a medal in the women’s hammer throw at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Tuesday, but insists she remains motivated to return stronger after the setback, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Olatoye finished eighth with a best throw of 63.27m, unable to challenge the leading contenders in a high-quality final dominated by Canada’s Camryn Rogers.
Rogers successfully defended her Commonwealth title in style, setting a new Games record of 74.91m to claim the gold medal.
Speaking after the event, Olatoye admitted her preparation had been excellent but said she struggled to find her rhythm on the day.
“I think my preparation for this competition was really great. Honestly, it was just my rhythm that was off,” she said.
“Everyone is in the weather, so I don’t like to use excuses. I just wasn’t able to get a throw out.
